Responding to the press conference statements by David Davis and Michel Barnier on the latest round of Brexit negotiations, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“After months of negotiations, little has been achieved to meet the needs of working people. The danger of a job-destroying ‘no deal’ Brexit has only grown.

“The Prime Minister must break free from the hard-liners in her party who want an extreme Brexit. She must start acting in the national interest by putting people’s jobs and livelihoods first. That means staying in the single market and customs union for the transition. And it means keeping all options on the table for the final deal.”
