As we approach Christmas, we are again facing a huge amount of uncertainty about the public health situation and stark warnings about the possible impact of the omicron variant.

It is therefore very important that individuals and employers remain well-informed about the latest public health advice issued by Welsh Government and Public Health Wales and continue to take precautions to minimise the spread of coronavirus.

Getting vaccinated is the best step we can take to protect ourselves and others. Everyone in Wales will have had or will shortly receive an appointment for their booster jab. Please prioritise getting the booster and enable your workforce to do the same.

If you or anyone you know have missed one or both of your vaccine appointment, contact your local health board: https://phw.nhs.wales/topics/immunisation-and-vaccines/covid-19-vaccination-information/

If you or anyone you know has questions about the coronavirus vaccine, Public Health Wales is an authoritative source of information and advice: https://phw.nhs.wales/topics/immunisation-and-vaccines/covid-19-vaccination-information/

There are other precautious which we should also take to further protect ourselves and others, including:

  • wearing a face covering in all indoor public spaces, except when eating or drinking.
  • taking a Lateral Flow Device (LFD) test before going out;
  • taking a PCR test if you have covid symptoms; and
  • complying with self-isolation advice, including if you have had a positive test result.
