Overview

 Mental Health Awareness: an introduction

Despite mental health rising up the public and political agenda, many workers still face problems and discrimination when it comes to mental health in the workplace. Work-related stress is now one of the biggest causes of absences, and mentally unhealthy work environments have been shown to lead to an increased risk of heart attacks and strokes in workers.

TUC Education and TUC South West are  offering an introduction to mental health awareness for all affiliated trade union officers and reps interested in developing their understanding of this complex issue.

The event will include a three workshops that discuss:

- Developing mental health awareness

- Championing good mental health in the workplace

- Tackling stigma and discrimination at work

- The law behind stress-related injuries

- TUC Education mental health courses and support

A light lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Tickets are limited so we recommend booking your ticket early to reserve your place. If you can no longer attend, we kindly ask that you cancel your ticket to free up your place.

Please note that to book a place onto this event, you will need to create an account with the TUC Education website.
