TSSA represents people working in transport and travel. Our vision is to be a well organised and effective trade union where our members are at the heart of everything that we do. We are now involved in an ambitious growth project – our organising teams are focused on building bigger and stronger workplaces, where members have the power to challenge and create change, to ensure they are respected in their workplace and able to address inequalities.
Can you help us make our vision a reality? Then become an Organiser with us.
We are looking for talented and creative Organisers who can work with us to deliver key strategic projects that will focus on the challenges and opportunities that a changing rail industry will bring.
You will either have experience of delivering industrial organising campaigns and/or a strong background in strategic campaigning or Trade Union education. You will be able to plan, lead and implement defined organising projects, working to deadlines and meeting targets. Through the application of strategic organising methods, you will drive membership growth and develop lay representatives to create sustainable active union workplaces where our members have the confidence to apply power and leverage to make a difference to everyone’s working lives.
You will be determined and driven to achieve ambitious growth outcomes as part of a team. We are looking for people who can identify and cultivate workplace leaders through your own strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. You will be able to train and coach active union members to also deliver on our unions strategic vision. Your knowledge of equalities issues will allow you to help us deliver and promote our workplace equalities agenda.
In the current environmental, health, political and economic crisis that we are in, never has there been a more important and challenging time to play a part in creating change, drive social engagement and challenge discrimination via pro-active and positive campaigns in the public transport industry.
Our staff are currently working remotely but when we return to office working you can be based in any of our offices: London, York, Manchester, Bristol or Glasgow. The roles will require future travel across your region and at times nationally.
For these vacancies, you will be on a fixed-term contract for one year on a salary of £41,861 plus London Weighting where applicable of £5,407.
TSSA offers all employees a generous annual leave entitlement and defined benefit pension scheme. TSSA is an equal opportunities employer striving to maintain and grow our diverse workplace community. We welcome applications from all sectors of the community. We are a family friendly employer and pro-actively support staff with disabilities.
