About this Role

The role: As an RCN Officer in the West Midlands region you’ll use your positive attitude and your knowledge of employment issues and nursing to support our local team in delivering to over 40,000 RCN members across the region. Every day will be filled with possibilities as you work to deliver and support the provision of our member services with your colleagues, under the direction of your Senior RCN Officer.

Taking care of our members will be your primary role, but you’ll also see the possibilities that new members can bring. A part of what you do will be to suggest innovative approaches to retain and grow our membership and develop and support our network of accredited RCN Representatives and Branch Executives. As an RCN Officer your role will be varied and challenging - you’ll support our members with individual and group workplace issues, influencing decisions about policies affecting our members in NHS Trusts and independent sector employers.

You will also negotiate to ensure the best possible working conditions for our members and play a vital role in the achievements of our RCN campaigns across our region, England and the whole of the UK.

The person: To join us you’ll need to know about HR processes and management of workplace issues, you’ll need to understand how Trade Unions work in the health and social care sector and, ideally, you will hold a current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse. Whatever your background, you'll be efficient, effective and show a real customer focus in all you do.
