The National Education Union is a force for change in the world of education, bringing together more than 450,000 teachers, lecturers, support staff and leaders working in maintained and independent schools and colleges across the UK.
The successful candidate will undertake work on policy issues within the Department’s remit on pay and employment issues affecting NEU members, and provide support on bargaining work. They will undertake research, prepare briefings and develop policy and advice, working closely with colleagues in other NEU functions including bargaining, organising, campaigns, communications and recruitment.
We are seeking applicants with knowledge and understanding of issues relating to pay and employment, preferably in the education sector, also having gained experience in a policy, research or campaigns environment.
You will need to demonstrate good analytical and writing skills and an ability to understand, discuss and explain complex issues, exercise judgement and advise on decisions.
In addition to salary, we offer good conditions including a non-pensionable luncheon allowance currently set at £1,056, 33 days’ annual leave plus Christmas closure days and a defined benefit pension scheme. Salary and benefits are pro-rata for part-time applicants.
