The National Education Union is a force for change in the world of education, bringing together more than 450,000 teachers, lecturers, support staff and leaders working in maintained and independent schools and colleges across the UK.
The successful candidate will contribute to the advancement of the union’s aims by working collaboratively with department heads and management teams to implement the NEU strategic people plan, building staff engagement and enabling strong performance.
They will also ensure that HR is integrated with organisational strategies, plans and processes so that the work of HR is aligned with organisational outcomes.
They will do this by supporting and coaching managers to manage all aspects of employee relations effectively, contribute to the development of HR policy and practice, responding to identified organisational needs and provide HR advice and support to the designated regions, nations and departments and to act as the gateway to managers for the HR services team.
We are seeking applicants who are CIPD qualified (Chartered Member) with relevant experience of working in a similar business partnering context and proven experience of working strategically to contribute to preparation and delivery of HR plans aligned with organisational objectives. Applicants will also need to have up to date knowledge of employment law, coupled with problem-solving skills, being able to exercise judgement and make decisions within accepted parameters.
In addition to salary, we offer good conditions including a non-superannuable luncheon allowance currently set at £1,005, 7 weeks’ annual leave plus Christmas closure days and a final salary pension scheme.
