About this Role

The East Riding Local Government branch has over 2,800 members primarily employed in the local authority but also in academies, colleges, probation, care services and in other private employers all of whom are being affected by the public spending cuts.

We are looking for a part-time Case Worker to work 7 hours a week to supplement our existing establishment, to help drive and co-ordinate our recruitment and campaigning work across the branch.

The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills in one to one communications, recruitment, organising and campaigning. To undertake this role you will need to be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge of the Trade Union and Labour movement and UNISON. Previous experience as a recruiter, organiser and campaigner within a TU branch or within a similar organisation would also be desirable. You will need to be able to travel within the county and on the south bank of the Humber and to the Branch Office in Beverley and possibly also to Leeds for meetings/training as required. Candidates are expected to live in or near to the East Riding.  A full driving licence and use of your own vehicle for business travel is essential. Mileage rates will be reimbursed in line with the conditions of service of the post.

The post is for 6 months with a review after this date to see if it is deemed necessary by the Branch to extend this period.  The successful candidate will be employed on UNISON conditions as amended and adopted by the Branch. Please note this is a temporary employment opportunity.  The successful applicant would not become a UNISON employee but an employee of the East Riding Branch of UNISON.
