About this Role

We are now seeking to appoint a Special Advisor Assistant to support the Chair of Council and Chief Officers of the British Medical Association (BMA). This is a key role supporting decision-making and prioritisation at the heart of the BMA.

In this role you will support the Special Advisor to manage the flow of information to and from the Chair of Council, liaise with staff across the BMA to ensure the Chief Officers are effectively supported and produce correspondence and communications materials on their behalves.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of working with senior elected officials or in a member-facing role in a trade union or professional association
  • Considerable experience of operating in a political context
  • Experience of drafting high-quality communications materials and/or policy briefings

To be successful, you will need:

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • A highly organised approach to managing competing priorities
  • Sound judgment, discretion and the ability to take initiative
  • Most importantly of all, you will need to be passionate about the BMA`s vision of a profession of valued doctors delivering the highest quality health services
