About this Role

The NASUWT is the leading trade union representing exclusively the interests of teachers and school leaders throughout the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Gibraltar.

This is a critical leadership post within the NASUWT – the Teachers’ Union.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for the strategic direction of, and spearheading the organising strategy in, the NASUWT’s network of Regional and National Centres in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The successful candidate for this key role in the organisation will need to have:

  • a significant record of achievement at a senior level within the trade union movement or public sector;
  • excellent communication and presentational skills and an ability to lead and inspire others;
  • a strong commitment to the NASUWT’s ethos and values;
  • a thorough understanding of the issues and challenges affecting teachers and the education service throughout the UK;
  • knowledge and understanding of employment, equality and trade union organisation and legislation.
