Prime Minister must come clean about his EU renegotiation agenda, says TUC

Commenting on reports that David Cameron could send the long-awaited letter setting out his EU renegotiation agenda to the President of the European Council Donald Tusk as early as Monday 9 November, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady today (Friday) said:

“The Prime Minister must come clean about how his renegotiation agenda would affect British workers. He should be seeking policies in Europe that would promote sustainable investment, decent work at good wages and up-to-date rights at work.

“He should categorically rule out any attempt to create a two-speed, two-tier Europe where British workers get worse rights and lower wages.

“The secrecy and delay surrounding the Prime Minister’s desperate attempts to appease his own party have created uncertainty for employers and worry for workers. He needs to open up about what it is he’s asking for in his renegotiation strategy.”
