The TUC mourns the death of Somali Workers

Killing of Public Transport Workers

On behalf of the TUC General Council, I write to express our solidarity with the working people in Somalia at this sad moment when they mourn the death of nine of their colleagues in the transport sector.

The TUC was shocked to learn of their killing in the town of Afgoye, 30 kilometres south of the capital - Mogadishu - and strongly condemns the appalling crime committed against the workers concerned for refusing to give in to extortion.

The TUC General Council join me in sending our heart-felt condolences to you, and though you, to the families of the workers concerned.
