"While we’ll be meeting online again, this is our showpiece event and our primary democratic forum. And delegates will be debating a range of incredibly important issues.

I’m hugely proud of the role our movement has played during the pandemic. We’ve won important gains for working people. Highlighted the urgent need for investment in jobs, services and communities. And fought for equality to be hardwired into the recovery.

The pandemic has exposed, and exacerbated, profound inequalities in our society. And trade unions must do everything we can to build a better future for all working people, including Black workers, women, LGBT+ workers and disabled workers. This is our chance to come together and debate our priorities for the crucial year ahead. We will hear from delegates, from union general secretaries, and from the leader of the opposition. So join us from 12-14 September - and together let’s win dignity, decency and equality for all working people."

Frances O’Grady
TUC General Secretary

As we recover from the pandemic, how do we build a world of work that gives everyone the dignity and fairness we deserve?

Congress is a key moment for trade unionists to connect with one another, to set the TUC’s agenda for the year, and to showcase the contribution and importance of trade unionism.

Due to Covid, Congress will take place online this year. Congress sessions will be:

  • Sunday 12 September 2.00-4.00pm
  • Monday 13 September 10am-12.30pm and 2.00-4.30pm
  • Tuesday 14 September 10am-12.30pm

Unions will nominate delegates to participate at Congress. Delegates will be contacted separately about the registration process from their union.

In addition to union delegates, anyone is welcome to observe all the open sessions of Congress live on the TUC website.

Sign up today to receive information about Congress, keynote speakers and the fringe on the TUC website.

The provisional programme includes debates on:

  • building stronger unions and mobilising for a new deal for workers
  • putting good, unionised jobs at the heart of a green economy
  • investing in public services and winning decent pay for key workers
  • tackling racism, and putting the fight for equality at the heart of everything we do
  • ending fire and rehire.

We’ll hear from Keir Starmer, leader of the opposition, and TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady, setting out the challenges facing the labour and trade union movement. And we will highlight the work of the TUC's Anti-Racism Task Force.

There'll also be a fantastic range of fringe meetings and seminars for you to join. More information about these events will be posted up soon.
