About this resource

The TUC in Yorkshire & the Humber has worked together with the GMB Yorkshire & North Derbyshire Young Members Network, and the Unite in Schools national project to develop an adaptable workshop to deliver to school leavers and apprentices outlining their rights at work and why they should join a union.

The workshop uses modern instances of workplace injustice that will be familiar to students who have part time retail or warehouse jobs, in order to develop a sense of social injustice and desire to action.

The downloadable resources are very specific to our Yorkshire based project and have been developed by the three person steering group from TUC, GMB, and Unite. Anyone interested in using these materials should contact Gareth Lewis at glewis@tuc.org.uk for a brief introduction to the resources and how to deliver an effective workshop using TUC resources.

These resources downloadable below are the core materials that should help you to approach schools to deliver sessions. Included are:

More apprentice specific resources are available on the apprentice section of this website.

Don't forget! Always contact your NEU, NASUWT or UCU local office first, to help you get access to a particular school or college.
