Trades Councils and migration

Issue date

The Migration Messaging project was run by the TUC for a year between April 2014 –2015. The project was developed to promote progressive messages on migration to tackle anti-migrant rhetoric in media and political debate.  This rhetoric is dangerous as it scapegoats migrants for problems such as lack of decent jobs, low wages and services that are due to bad bosses and austerity. The TUC prioritised work to challenge this rhetoric as the stronger it is, the more difficult it is for progressive messages on migration which emphasise solidarity, equal treatment and workers’ rights to be heard.  The objectives and outcomes of the project are set out in the paper attached
