Speaking on Government's proposals on Ireland and Northern Ireland published today (Wednesday), TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:
"If ministers don't want to return to the borders of the past, we need to stay in the single market and the customs union.
"Recreating any sort of border will mean more friction, and political and economic risks for working people across Ireland and the UK.
"We want to keep the common travel area and secure great jobs for everyone. The rights of working people in Northern Ireland must not fall behind those in the Republic."
