Commenting on the publication today (Thursday) of new ONS statistics on the effects of taxes and benefits on UK household income, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“In work poverty is soaring as a direct result of this government’s policies.

“The huge real-terms cut in state support for low income households means the poorest families are getting poorer.

“These cuts need to be reversed. And working families need a lift with the minimum wage moving to £10 per hour as soon as possible.”
