This week a series of events will be taking place across the UK for key workers to tell their MPs why they believe key workers deserve a pay rise ahead of the budget in March.

In the North West there will be three key events taking place online in Rossendale and Darwen, Bolton North East and Southport.

  • Tuesday 23 February 2021, 5.30pm – Rossendale and Darwen
  • Wednesday 24 February 2021, 5.30pm – Bolton North East
  • Thursday 25 February 2021, 5.30pm – Southport

In each case, the local MP has been contacted and invited to attend the meeting well in advance. The meetings will be hosted by the regional TUC North West office, chaired by a member of the TUC North West executive and will feature key workers giving personal testimony.

TUC North West Regional Secretary Lynn Collins said: “When the shelves needed stocking - they were there. When hospitals were at breaking point they were there. When children needed support and care - they were there. Throughout the pandemic they went to work and risked their lives to care for us. Now we must support their demands for a pay rise.

We’ve invited the MP in each constituency to hear directly from their own constituents about the experience of key workers during the pandemic and we hope they will attend.”
