Commenting on new inflation figures published today (Wednesday) by the Office for National Statistics, which show CPI inflation falling to 1.8%, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“Lower inflation should be good news for workers. But the prime minister’s failure to rule out a no-deal Brexit is harming confidence in the economy and putting living standards at risk.

“Action is needed from the government to protect the economy and improve livelihoods.

“Public service and infrastructure spending should be increased. And ministers should guarantee every public sector worker a pay rise above inflation this year.”
