Commenting on new inflation figures published today (Wednesday) by the Office for National Statistics, which show CPI inflation falling to 1.7%, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“Falling inflation may mean some relief from rising prices, but it’s also a sign of weaker growth.

“The spending round was too slow a start when there is so much ground to make up. With the economy in need of urgent support, the Chancellor should go much further with public investment.

“And the Prime Minister must not force through no-deal Brexit that would destroy jobs and push prices up.”
