Every year during HeartUnions Week (10 – 16 January 2020), trade unions ramp up their activities in workplaces to make the world of work better. Many unions also use the week to organise and recruit more members whilst highlighting a key issue affecting many workers.
This year’s themes are...
Below are details about how you and your workmates can take action against sexual harassment, join the campaign, and encourage non-members to get involved.
HeartUnions week is also about building our movement. It’s a chance to tell the story about why unions are vital for everyone at work and encourage people who aren't yet in a union to join and get involved. The week also gives reps and activists the opportunity to publicise what they've been doing and make the case for union membership.
With this in mind, we are also rolling out new training on how you can have that initial conversation with friends about unions. This essential organising training is suitable for new activists as well as current reps wanting a refresher.
In addition to the sexual harassment campaign toolkit, there are a range of downloadable materials and merchandise available to support a week of ‘conversations’ with friends and non-unionised workers about the value of being in a union.
These include: Join a Union leaflet, TUC pocket guide to organising and campaigning; Unions for a better working life booklet; Guide to organising at work, as well as Heart Unions merchandise (subject to availability).
To order a South West activist’s pack, complete this online form before Monday 3 February 2020 5pm to make sure you get your materials in time.
If you need more than one copy, unions and branches can order bulk materials here.
