Why aren’t young workers joining unions? Just 6 per cent of 21-30 year olds working in the private sector are members of a union and increasing numbers of young people don’t know what a union is or how it could be of use to them. This is the biggest challenge our movement faces. We need to develop new ideas and approaches to connect with today’s young workers.
