LESE Women's Rights Committee Present: Black Women in the Workplace and Trade Unions
Please register: Jowilliams@tuc.org.uk / 020 7467 1218
Black women workers are too often seen through the distorting lenses of prejudices about race, gender, and class. Black and Minority Ethnic women workers are concentrated in low paid low-status jobs. At the same time, crude generalisations are often used to blame the workers themselves for this fact.
Join us to address the barriers black women face in the workplace and their unions.
Guest Speakers:
Susan Matthews, Unite the Union National Executive Member, speaks on the lack of Black women in leadership roles in our trade unions.
Peggy-Ann Fraser, LESE Women’s Rights Committee Joint-Chair, speaks on racism in the Workplace.
Meeting chaired by Betty Joseph, LESE Race Relations Committee Chair
This event is hosted by LESE Women's Rights Committee and LESE Race Relations Committee
