LESE Race Relations Committee celebrate Irish History 

Theme: Ger Omah: "Mother Jones", the great Irish Woman who fled the genocide in Ireland in the 1840s to become the greatest Woman Trade Unionist who led many Strikes in the United States.

Meeting chaired by  Austin Harney, LESE Race Relations Committee Joint Secretary 

Guest Speakers include: 

Conor Kodstick, Researcher at Trinity College University, Dublin and Irish historian: The Irish Soviets (Workers’ Councils) who were formidable in the Trade Union movement during its War of Irish Independence.

Maire Doolin, PCS Union Full-Time Officer on the impact of "An Gorta Mor" (Great Hunger/Genocide) in Ireland that led to a huge exodus of Irish Workers to Liverpool, and their impact on the British Trade Union movement.

Declan Doolin on the Volunteers from Liverpool in the 1916 Easter Rising and the War of Irish Independence.
