The Life and Legacy of Claudia Jones
Claudia Jones was a towering figure in politics in the second half of the twentieth century in the USA, UK and beyond. She was born in Trinidad. As a child she migrated with her family to the USA, where she became a political activist, Black nationalist and campaigner for freedom, through her communist beliefs. Mary Macarthur lecture
  Mary Macarthur, female trade unionist led the historic 10 week strike which led to a minimum wage. Her achievements are celebrated every year at the Chainmakers Festival in Cradley Heath. The Midlands TUC has now established an annual lecture to be given in her name to look at the challenges and opportunities facing women in the world of work today. Hate Crime and Austerity Seminar
