Overview

The Wales TUC is setting up a new network to support trade union reps who want to promote greener workplaces and sustainability. Join us for this new network which is open to all reps and activists, including green reps, health and safety reps, union reps, ULRs and any other reps with an interest in the topic.

The group will meet online every other month. Each meeting will feature guest speakers to explore different topics, provide an opportunity for reps to network and share good practice and include an update from the Wales TUC.

Our first meeting will take place on Tuesday 18th May at 2 pm on Zoom. The topic for the first meeting will be air pollution as a workplace issue. We will explore what trade unionists can do to tackle air pollution to protect the environment and our members’ health.

The meeting will feature guest speakers including:

  • Janet Newsham - Trade Union Clean Air Network (TUCAN), Hazards Campaign
  • Graham Petersen - TUCAN, Greener Jobs Alliance
  • Chris Roberts - sustainable travel writer and campaigner
  • Stephen Gray - PCS environment rep

There will be an opportunity for group discussions, networking and for discussion with the panel. There will also be an update on wider green issues and what trade unions are doing in the run up to the next UN climate summit, CoP 26 due to be held in Glasgow this November.

The network will be co-chaired and co- facilitated by John James, Trade Union Studies Coordinator at Coleg Gwent and Jo Rees from the Wales TUC.

Please join us for this event and if you have any ideas for topics or speakers for future meetings, please email jrees@tuc.org.uk with your suggestions.
