Congress, we need your help.

We have a viciously right wing government waging war on our rights as unions and as workers. The Trade Union Bill is a disgraceful and partisan attack on the right to strike, on human rights and civil liberties, and on any collective opposition to the government's austerity policies.

Our government is also attacking the rights that we have won from Europe: the working time directive, temporary agency workers' directive, and maybe even a British opt out from all employment rights, as well as attacking the social and industrial rights of migrant workers.

These attacks are being done in secret, in meetings between our UK Ministers and Ministers in your own countries.

They threaten not only workers' rights, but also their very support for British membership of the European Union itself, already undermined by the European Commission's austerity dogma, its attacks on workers in Greece and elsewhere, and secret so-called trade deals.

This is no idle threat. Our polling makes it crystal clear - if David Cameron gets his way in scrapping workers' rights won at European level, British workers won't vote to stay in the European Union.

But it's actually worse than that, Congress. If David Cameron gets his way, British workers will be undercutting your workers, and how long will it be before your governments start asking why they can't get away with lower workers' rights too.

Cameron's reform agenda is a virus that would seriously harm British workers, but it could also spread and take the European social model down too.

So Congress, please support this motion, and please challenge your government to reject David Cameron's plans.

Not just for workers in Britain, but for workers everywhere. Solidarity!
