As the eighth annual LGBT History month gets underway tomorrow (Wednesday 1st February) the Northern TUC and its LGBT forum welcome the comprehensive programme of activity to the region.

Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender History month takes place every year in February. It celebrates the lives and achievements of the LGBT community.

Northern TUC Regional Secretary said: 'The North East is renowned for its inclusivity and LGBT History month is all about celebrating difference, diversity and the contribution both make to our society, communities, workplaces and everywhere inbetween. It is especially heartening to see the calibre of events and activity here in the north east, which gets better year on year, so that our own LGBT community can participate and make their valuable contribution.'
