Welcoming the publication of the Governments strategy document, Improving opportunity, strengthening society, TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said:
'Over the past few years many organisations have been changing the ways in which they work to try to make equality a reality for all employees. Yet the experiences of many black and Asian workers suggest that we have still some way to go before every UK worker truly experiences the same equality of opportunity.
'The Governments commitment to achieving racial equality is demonstrated by the publication of this impressive document, which takes us one step nearer the day when every person will have the same chance of securing a new job or landing that promotion, regardless of their race or religion.'
