Responding to the news today (Thursday) that WPP boss Sir Martin Sorrell was paid GBP43 million last year, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“This is further evidence of how the super-rich live in a different universe to the rest of us. While millions of hard-working families have seen their living standards plummet in recent years, executives have continued to rake in eye-watering amounts of cash.

“Britain’s fat cat bosses are hoarding earnings owed to staff for themselves. That’s why we need workers on remuneration committees to make sure top directors’ pay is kept in touch with reality.

“We need a recovery that benefits everybody, not just those at the top,”
