Commenting on new figures released by the Office for National Statistics on the take-up of pension auto-enrolment in the workplace, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“This is great news, and we can expect the numbers saving in a pension to increase further as auto-enrolment is rolled out to include smaller employers over the next few years. But auto-enrolment contribution levels are not enough to give people a decent income in retirement, and over the next few years we need higher minimum contributions and to include the lower paid workers this government has excluded.”
