Commenting on the economic review published today (Wednesday) by the ONS (Office for National Statistics), which finds that there is weak productivity growth and a changing composition of the workforce towards lower-skilled roles, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“We need an economy that generates more wealth per working hour, and higher wages for each worker. But the Chancellor’s plan is failing to deliver, with the ONS finding that productivity growth is weak and the quality of jobs is falling.

“We need an economy that generates more wealth per working hour, and higher wages for each worker. But the Chancellor’s plan is failing to deliver, with the ONS finding that productivity growth is weak and the quality of jobs is falling.

“The big failure is the lack of investment, and the big danger is that the government’s extreme cuts are about to make a bad situation worse.”
