Commenting on the latest labour market data published today (Wednesday) by the Office for National Statistics, which show a high employment rate, but regular annual pay growth of only 2.2%, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“Despite continued jobs growth, a full recovery in the value of wages is still years away. Average weekly earnings are still worth £40 a week less than before the crash and pay growth remains too slow.

“The government needs to do more to build a high investment, high productivity economy with more better paid work.”
