Commenting on the latest inflation figures published today (Tuesday), which show Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation at 0.5%, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“The UK’s continuing low inflation is a sign that the economy is below full strength. Theresa May’s government has shown a new willingness to take action to boost growth. And with Brexit adding new risks for jobs and investment, action is needed urgently to ensure workers do not pay the price of the vote to leave the EU.

“The TUC has published an action plan to keep the economy moving and strengthen future growth. The government must give the go-ahead for a third runway at Heathrow, bring forward major new infrastructure projects like high-speed rail and announce a big expansion in housebuilding.”
