Commenting on today’s (Friday) figures from the Office for National Statistics, which confirm that construction output fell into recession again over the second half of 2015, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“The Chancellor’s re-balancing act is failing. Manufacturing is back in decline, and construction is now back in recession, with growth too reliant on services again.

“The Chancellor’s re-balancing act is failing. Manufacturing is back in decline, and construction is now back in recession, with growth too reliant on services again.

“If this government really is the party of the builders, it must urgently invest in infrastructure and build more houses. This would boost Britain’s construction industry and help more people find an affordable home.”
