Despite good figures today, long-term jobless picture is worrying, says TUC

Commenting on the latest labour market figures published today (Wednesday) by the Office for National Statistics, TUC General Secretary Frances O'Grady said:

'These figures make welcome reading, but with the economy still flat-lining it is hard to see how these trends can continue.

'The rate at which employment is increasing has started to fall and we won't see a sustained recovery in the jobs market until our economy starts to grow.

'There is also the continuing problem of underemployment and too many of the new jobs created over the last year are low-paid and insecure.'
