Commenting on the announcement today (Thursday) by the Prison Service Pay Review body of a zero per cent pay offer for prison officers, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“Prison Officers do not deserve to be shut out of the economic recovery with a pay freeze. Since the coalition came to power, the real value of prison officers’ wages has already been cut considerably.

“It's a shoddy way to be treated for such important work that can be very stressful and involves such a high level of responsibility.”
