Young Workers action on Fair Pay

Issue date

Working people in the UK are seeing their living standards squeezed harder and harder every year. The cost of energy, food and housing is soaring but wages aren’t keeping up. While jobs may be returning to the economy they’re increasingly low paid, low hours and low security. Young people are one of the worst groups affected, more and more young people are leaving education unable to find decent work and are often targets for temporary work and zero hour contacts. Young people on low wages are struggling to pay rent and the hope of one day buying a house has, for many, become an impossible dream.

As part of Young Workers Month and the Fair Pay Fortnight campaign, the TUC are encouraging young people to tell the government why, as young workers, they deserve fair pay.

Here’s what to do:

  1. Print off the message board attached
  2. Write your message
  3. Send in a photo of you holding your message to: photos@fairpayfortnight.org
  4. Spread the word! Share your photo on Facebook, or tweet it using the hashtag #fairpayfortnight

The best images will be used on the campaign material and displayed on the TUC website and young members pages.

Good luck!
