Lee Barron, Midlands TUC Regional Secretary, said

“In the run up to International Women’s Day it is right that attention is focussed upon the many challenges confronting women and we are delighted that Polly Toynbee will be delivering the 2016 Mary Macarthur lecture.

“The lecture is the culmination of our ‘Women at Work’ week. We will remember and honour the campaigning zeal of Mary Macarthur and the women Chainmakers and use them as an inspiration as we support unions to tackle poverty pay, zero hours contracts and casualisation that is doing so much to trap women in low pay, insecure work today.
