Overview

Take part in TUC Yorkshire & the Humber's flagship young workers initiative for the Year of Young Workers 2019.

We'll be taking a road trip through South Yorkshire, speaking to young, unorganised workers in workplaces throughout Doncaster, Sheffield and Barnsley, to find out what their conditions are like, if they know their rights, and explain how unions are here to help.

Thursday 6th June to Sunday 9th June

Thursday - all day training session @ Wortley Hall & in Barnsley

Friday - all day in Sheffield, dinner & overnight in Sheffield

Saturday - all day in Doncaster, dinner & overnight in Sheffield

Sunday - Sheffield until lunchtime, followed by a pilot digital campaigning session where we will experiment with new peer-to-peer technology to follow up with young workers, dinner & overnight @ Wortley Hall

Depart Monday morning (or Sunday night for any delegates with long journeys)

TBD - follow up "Take Control/Mobilise your workplace" meeting in Sheffield for young workers we've reached out to

Take Control/Mobilise Your Workplace - follow up event

Whether it's an issue with pay, not getting paid staff travel home late at night, no consultation on rota management, not getting the correct tips...we've all been there.
So come along to find out more about your employment rights, how to stand up to your boss along with your colleagues, and how not to be sacked in the process!
This is an educational workshop open to young workers who are not active in a trade union but want to know more about standing up for themselves and their friends at work.

All expenses (hotels, meals, resources) are covered by the TUC except: Travel to the start point and departure from end point; loss of wages

The TUC asks the branches of all participating volunteers to cover travel expense and loss of wages as per their union's rate.

A registration form, letter to employer, and request to branch for loss of wages will be live on this website soon.
