embargo: For immediate release
Commenting today (Thursday) on the publication of the final report of the Civil Litigation Costs Review by Lord Justice Jackson, TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said:
'The recommendations made are extremely comprehensive and complex, but unions are concerned that any changes introduced may limit access to legal redress for employees injured or made ill by their work.
'The TUC will be working with the Ministry of Justice to ensure that no injured employee is prevented from taking legal action against a negligent employer, nor denied access to damages. We welcome moves to speed up the process of litigation, but not at the cost of access to justice.'
