Health & Wellbeing at Work

Issue date

For the best part of 40 years trade union safety reps have been making a difference in the workplace, literally halving the likelihood of workers experiencing an accident or suffering an occupational illness. Maintaining good health and wellbeing, however, is about more than ensuring employers comply with legal standards of health and safety. Increasingly, trade union reps are taking a lead on promoting broader health and wellbeing in the workplace, raising awareness and working with employers to enable workers to make improved choices about their health and wellbeing.

This seminar will help trade unions to develop health and wellbeing initiatives at work, to support workers short and long-term health and wellbeing challenges and to promote good practice. Stress and anxiety at work is certainly on the increase and this is leading to growing concerns regarding mental health. 'Mental Health First Aid' is becoming essential knowledge for reps.

Attendees will also hear about support for workers with cancer from Macmillan cancer support and will be introduced to the Workplace Wellbeing Charter - a toolkit for employers to understand how they can improve health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Date: Thursday 28th June

Time: 12.00 noon to 4.00pm
