Wales TUC Cymru
The Wales TUC is the voice of Wales at work. With almost 50 affiliated trade unions the Wales TUC represents nearly half a million workers. We campaign for a fair deal at work and for social justice at home and abroad. More information about the Wales TUC.
Defeating Racism
The Wales TUC worked with the Equality and Human Rights Commission and the Welsh Refugee Council to produce a leaflet which aims to dispel the myths and provide the real facts about migrant workers, asylum seekers, refugees and Travellers in Wales ahead of the local government elections on 1st May 2008. Download our leaflet here. If you have received our leaflet through your door, and would like to download a Welsh version, it is available here.
If you are a political campaigner, have received this leaflet from your party headquarters and would like to download a Welsh version, it is available here.
Trade union involvement in public sector improvement
The Wales TUC has been leading work to improve social partnership in the public sector to ensure public sector workers are properly involved in the reform process. As a result we have signed a Partnership Agreement for Public Services in Wales with the Welsh Assembly Government, Welsh Local Government Association, NHS Wales and wider devolved public services. Download the document here.
Campaigning to close the pay gap
Women in Wales working full-time are earning 12.7% less than men. Women working part-time are earning 33.7% less than men. Together with the Equal and Human Rights Commission and the Welsh Assembly Government we are working to close the pay gap. For information about the campaign click here.
Speaking up for vulnerable workers
Migrant workers in Wales often experience discrimination and exploitation when they come to Wales. Trade unions in Wales and the Wales TUC are working to support migrant workers coming to Wales by providing migrant workers with information about their employment rights and by encouraging employers to treat migrant workers fairly. The Wales TUC's leaflet of facts about asylum seekers, refugees and migrant workers is available to download.
A trade union report (published December 2007) uncovering the employment situation facing migrant workers in Wales is available to download. For a copy of the report click here.
The TUC set up a Commission to look into the issues surrounding vulnerable employment. The Commission's report is available here.
Courses for union representatives
The Wales TUC organises a range of accredited education courses for union stewards, safety representatives, pension scheme trustees and other trade union representatives. For the current list of courses click here.
Increasing opportunities for learning
Trade Unions in Wales are helping their members get on at work. Wales TUC Learning Services is at the forefront of union-led advice and guidance for reps and members. The Wales TUC Learning Services Team also provides expertise and assists unions in Wales to access the Welsh Assembly Government funded Wales Union Learning Fund.
