OBR deals new blow to public and private sector pensioners
As public sector workers take part in the biggest strike for a generation today (Wednesday), a new paper from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) predicts that the gap between CPI and RPI inflation will increase to 1.4 per cent in future cutting the value of public and private sector pensions in payment even more than previously forecast.
Thousands of northern region workers and trade unions taking to the streets for Pensions Justice
Thousands of workers across the North East and Cumbria will be showing their support for Pensions Justice and joining in with one of the four regional March and rallies across the region on Pensions Day of Action, November 30th.
As well as independent pickets all over the region, workers and trade unionists will be coming together in co-ordinated action in Newcastle-Gateshead, Middlesbrough, Carlisle and Whitehaven.
TUC makes bid for chart success in week of pension day of action
The TUC has brought together a group of public sector staff as The Workers to re-record the classic song Let's Work Together as a charity track that celebrates everything that is good about the public sector and raises money for today's pensioners.
