Scrutineers Report

The President: I now call on the Chair of the Scrutineers, Catherine Donaldson, to give the results of the ballot for the General Council and the General Purposes Committee.

Catherine Donaldson (Chair of the Scrutineers) presenting the Scrutineers' Report. Will delegates please turn to the back of the agenda and I will give the results of the ballots for the General Council, Sections C, D and the General Purposes Committee.

First of all, can I repeat the apology from our President for the error on the voting papers for Section C. Inevitably there was some confusion and I know one or two unions have expressed some concern about certain aspects of the procedure adopted. We will be following up those points and the TUC will reply directly to the unions concerned to see if procedures may be improved in any way. However, may I, on behalf of the scrutineers, reassure Congress that a thorough check has been made of all the papers and no union has voted twice, cast the incorrect number of votes or not had an opportunity to vote. With the approval of Congress, I would now like to proceed to read the results.

The President: Thank you very much Catherine.

Congress adjourned for the day
