Part 2 Introductions and presentations

The GPC has approved the following speeches and presentations by members of the General Council, sororal and fraternal delegates and special guests:

Monday morning

  • General Secretary's address and General Council Statement on the economy and the impact of cuts
  • Address by Rt Hon Harriet Harman MP, Interim Leader of the Labour Party

Monday afternoon

  • President's address and vote of thanks
  • Address by Gideon Shoko, Deputy General Secretary, Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions

Tuesday afternoon

  • Address by Sharan Burrow, General Secretary, International Confederation of Trade Unions

Wednesday morning

  • Address by John Monks, General Secretary, European Trade Union Confederation
  • Address by Mervyn King, Governor, Bank of England plus question and answer session

Wednesday afternoon

  • Address by Ann Black, Labour Party Sororal delegate

On Monday morning Congress will open with a short video celebrating Manchester's links with the trade union movement.

On Tuesday afternoon the Congress Lay Representative Awards will include a video presentation.

On Wednesday morning there will be a video on the Robin Hood Tax.

On Wednesday afternoon there will be a video presentation from Justice for Colombia.

During the week there will be a collection for Burma, Zimbabwe and Palestine. This will take place at the TUC information stand.
