TUC boss urges trustees to fight employers' slash and burn approach to pensions
TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber today (Tuesday) urged pension scheme trustees and trade unionists to guard against employers using the recession as an excuse to take a slash and burn approach to occupational pensions.

TUC welcomes new guidance on buy-outs by the Pensions Regulator
The TUC has welcomed new guidance and a code of practice on pensions buy-outs issued by the Pensions Regulator today (Monday). TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said:
“Pension scheme members need to know their pensions are absolutely safe if their employer passes the responsibility of paying them elsewhere. While this can be better for members' long term interests, it is important that pension scheme buy-outs are properly regulated.

Vast majority of institutional investors backed bank remuneration reports in run up to crash
The vast majority of institutional investors did not challenge the remuneration reports of leading banks or the takeover of ABN Amro by the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in the run up to the 2008 financial crash, the TUC reveals today (Monday) in its annual fund manager voting survey.
