Trade unions celebrate May Day in Iraqi Kurdistan

As well as May Day demonstrations in Baghdad and Basra, Iraqi Kurdistan also saw May Day demonstrations. In Sulymaniah, the leader of the General Workers and Craft Syndicate Union of Kurdistan, Sardar Rashed, led a demonstration with the following demands:

Abolish Decree 150 of 1987 (banning public sector trade unionism)
A new Labour Code
Reduce unemployment
Provide homes for workers
Improve the living conditions of working people
Provide health provision
