The British economy is closely integrated with that of the European Union
although we remain outside the Euro. The single market means that British goods
can be traded throughout Europe, and European goods can be sold freely in the
UK. Companies are operating more and more at European and global level. The
TUC and the European Trade Union Confederation are committed to a Europe that
works and is globally competitive – that means full employment, more
skills training, higher spending on research and development and infrastructure.
