Vote Global: UK Civil Society organisations set out the international development for challenges for any future government

80% of unpayable developing country debt remains outstanding, multinational companies dodge £98 billion in taxes owed to developing countries every year and C02 emissions are at a far higher level than is safe - resulting in the deaths of 300, 000 people every year.

The world stands at a crossroads and the UK is well placed to influence its direction. As a great many new MPs are likely to be elected at this election - development NGOs and trade unions have produced this Vote Global Manifesto to help to convince them that world poverty and climate change are issues worth addressing.

The Vote Global manifesto which the TUC has signed up to support, sets out policy demands which would enable the next government to solve the crises that we are in. It has five sections: More and better aid and debt relief, Tackling climate change, Making the global economy work for the poor, Good governance and addressing corruption, and Responding to conflict situations.

The Vote Global website has now been launched (www.voteglobal.org.uk) which details information and actions about how we can make this election count for the world's poor.
